For the past couple of weeks, Ive been looking into the brand House of Hackney. I've been looking into them in aid of my university summative project where I have to create a fragrance for them and create a story. House of Hackney are an interiors brand which sell maximalist designs which celebrates print, colour and texture. I love this brand a great amount as their designs are a vision of historical inspiration rather than the contrasted modern approach of minimalism which we are now used to seeing over and over again.
When I think of House of Hackney, I think of creative individuals who want more than just a sterile box to live in. It has even inspired me to paint my bedroom an extremely dark blue! Rather than my initial idea of painting it a grey, I realised colour is so much more exciting and pleasing. Black, white and grey are almost an easy way out of real design.
The couple who created House of Hackney wanted to design their East London townhouse but didn't have the resources they yearned for with lots of colour and pattern. This is the main reason the brand exists. They saw this gap and realised not everyone wants to live in a minimalist home. The brand is a platform for self expression and individuality and this is why I love it so much. Unique and powerful.
