The Power Of Images And Words

Album Cover
Yesterday, in my seminar group, we had to display four images of our photoshoot with 3-15 words. The reasoning for this, was to help us understand the relationship between images and words.

The four images we had to create were an:
- Advert (positive intention)
- Album Cover (positive intention)
- Article (negative intention)
- Negative response (graffiti, Parody)

I enjoyed creating these images and surprisingly, it took A LOT of  thought. As a creative person, i'm used to simply creating an image with a story behind it. However, putting the story in words on the front of an image was a difficult, and new task for me.

For the first advertisement, I wanted to create an image that advertises a makeup line. This is because our props in the image were mainly beauty products. I wanted to create a positive outcome by using a creative and forward looking makeup brand and create a male makeup line as it is predominately a female market that brands set out to sell to. This positive message is to show equality in both men and women.

For all of my word images, I wanted to create an equality feel and tone to it as pink is seen to be a colour subjected to the female gender and turn it around to contrast it with a masculine tone.
