Selfie Culture

“The surest cure for vanity is loneliness.” - Tom Wolfe
Today is a time where nostalgic photographs of memories are no more, but a time where we post endless pictures of ourselves on instagram with no real meaning. Instagram is a place where likes are more important to people than the real image itself. I can't help but feel social media is a virtual contradiction. Where it causes more harm than good but raises awareness of the harms it causes.

Fashion Brands And Disabilities

Mama Cax - Model
Today, I read an article on Glamour.com about how fashion brands should cater more to people with disabilities. As a person who can be quite ignorant about the world going on around me, I didn't quite realise how much of a problem buying or even putting clothes on can be for some people. I read three short experiences that disabled people had to go through, two of them included having to alter the clothes they buy, making them easier to put on and accessible and I read one of the woman who has dwarfism often gets told to look in the kids section. This completely shocked me. Obnoxious and ridiculous, why would adult want to shop in the kids section for themselves.

Why does fashion matter? - Personal Identity

Since I can remember, building on my own personal fashion taste hasn't been easy. With bloggers, Instagram and other social networking sites, influence and being influenced as a young person living in todays day and age, trying not to look at whats 'right' instead of whats right for me personally has been hard to dodge. Fashion and clothing is a way we all like to experiment with and show our own self expression. As a fashion student, i've always loved to see whats coming up in fashion and even editing my own clothes to save money but keeping up with trends. Although trends come and go, I feel they are not part of someones identity and express who they really are.
