Today, fashion and film came together for the ERDEM x H&M collection. Directed by Baz Luhrmann, a film showing a teaser of their amazing collaboration for their collection, which will be online and in selected stores from November 2nd, was a beautiful insight into what kind of clothes have been designed. The film showed a woman and a man running through typical grand English gardens, giving the feeling of an old time romance with whimsical music to take us through the story of the collection. This set the scene for the signature Erdem design with bold, vibrant floral prints and high-end craftsmanship.
The designers collaboration is also his first entry into menswear! I thought this was a bold but great move as a fairly new designer coming out of the womenswear box is an impressive move to do when doing it as a collaboration. This makes the designer himself stand out and get criticised and turn some heads into what maybe is to come for the designers future?
My opinion of this collection, is that I love all the small details and prints within the garments. Therefore, I feel the collection will be a great hit with women with a taste for more fashion trends. However, I feel it could be an even bigger hit for the menswear. The reason i think this is because the men who are interested in standing out and who want to make a statement with their fashion will relate to this collection as the menswear is slightly feminine with floral print but completely works on a masculine design.
