Fashion & Film - Breakfast At Tiffany's

Yesterday evening, I watched Breakfast At Tiffany's for the first time ever. Before watching the film, I had anticipated that it would be about a beautiful glamorous woman with lots of wealth who does typical middle class things like go out to eat every day with her friends. Through watching this film, I realised I couldn't have been any more wrong. This is because it aires a young, insecure woman who has built walls up around her.
After the film, I registered that it was more thought out than a basic romantic story as it shows contrast of true love and materialistic want, being misconstrued as love. The main story line is about a young woman who holds onto the dream of being wealthy who then realises the deeper meaning of true love and that wealth and materialistic things aren't whats important in life but true happiness and letting your guard down.

The reason I love this story is because it isn't obvious, and shy's away from showing Tiffany's in every scene. The film empowers the meaning of true love and also the story that Tiffany's bring lovers together no matter how rich or poor and that memories can be made with only the smallest of gestures. Another reason I loved this film, was the contrast in reality as this young woman who didn't have much money wore beautiful clothes and accessories to make herself appear wealthy. This shows us an insight into the characters persona as she clearly wanted to impress others more than being who she really is by escaping her reality of being insecure and scared.
