Liberty London - Documentary

In the week, I watched a documentary on Liberty London. I watched it because currently, i'm looking at the store in a project i'm working on and thought this would be a great help to me to understand more about it as a store, and also the history to see what makes it stand out from the rest.

After watching this documentary, It made me realise how much I love the whole idea and concept of Liberty as it brings the best oriental products from all over the world, yet has its own identity and brand within that with its traditional scarves, bags, haberdashery and fabrics. Personally, I think this sets Liberty aside from other high end department stores such as Harrods and Selfridges as they specialise in unique oriental rugs, furniture and objects. Although this is a positive and shows what makes them different, I feel that it's not as popular as Harrods or Selfridges with younger people because its seen as more of a traditional and homely store rather than a modern and cool one.

More about the project i'm currently working on, me and my team have to work as a creative agency to come up with an idea for Liberty in print with the theme of romance to get consumers more involved and interact with the store more to hopefully resulting in gaining more customers. We wanted to reach out to the younger consumer by interacting with them around the city by having a competition which allows them to have a chance of winning a traditional Liberty scarf and a hot air balloon trip for a couple by taking images of printed Liberty London transport with a hashtag and QR code. We thought of this because it brings traditional romance to a younger audience as we spoke about how we would all love to go on a hot air balloon ride but keeps to the modern way the younger generation live with the Liberty London X Travel competition App.

This documentary as a whole was very interesting and recommendable. I didn't know much about the store and this gave me a great insight into the history and traditions of it. When I next go down to London, I will defiantly be visiting.
