Personality, Style and creativity are all shown in what we wear. And personally, if I were to wear any designers clothes, it would be Saint Laurent. I feel Yves Saint Laurent, based his knowledge after with working with Dior, helped him create his own fashion empire by developing his own personal brand and wanted to create something that was new and different at the time. With simplicity to his designs, but with a masculine touch, Saint Laurent's clothes empower women with their strong lack of being typically feminine and add a touch of bold sexuality and strength within the person wearing them.
Two designs Yves Saint Laurent is best known for are his 'Le smoking suits' and the 'Mondrian Shift'. For the 1960s these were revolutionary pieces. Women wanted to dress with the contrast of masculinity and femininity to empower them along with the feminist movement. Le Smoking Suit is one of my favorite pieces as it has stood the test of time and still so relevant today. Instead of tailoring a suit for a man, these suits were especially made to look feminine and sexy. I would literally do anything to own a SL suit. With the Mondrian Shift design, I feel like this is so classic to the time and anybody who thinks back to 60s fashion automatically thinks of one of these wonderfully bold and unique dresses. I think this is a wonderful thing for a brand to achieve and by creating more than 1 classic look, This shows how extremely interesting and time shifting the YSL designs are.
